South African poet, author and outspoken anti-racism personality Lebo Mashile will moderate a distinguished panel of writers to discuss the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality and religion and their ability to produce and perpetuate systems of oppression and domination. Cheluchi Onyemelukwe-Onuobia is a lawyer and academic considered one of Nigeria’s brightest literary talents. Cheluchi’s debut novel, The Son of the House, won the Best International Fiction Book award at the Sharjah International Book Fair. Tatiana Salem Levy is a writer, essayist, and researcher at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Her first novel, The House in Smyrna, won Brazil’s most generous literary award — the São Paulo Prize for Literature — for a debut work. Ivan Johnson’s Memoir of a South African identity crisis is a revelation about the high-spirited boy from a close-knit family on the Cape Flats coming of age amid the turmoil of ‘The Struggle’ to joining a lily-white advertising industry. His tale is told with flair and irreverence.
