Launch of the DALRO Can Themba Merit Award for short writing

The Centre for Creative Arts at the University of KwaZulu-Natal together with the Dramatic, Artistic & Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO), is proud to announce the launch of the DALRO Can Themba Merit Award . The prestigious DALRO Can Themba Merit Award short story writing competition aims to celebrate the legacy of one of South Africa’s literary giants, Can Themba, while at the same time creating a platform for emerging short story writers to showcase their talent and creativity. Literary figures Lorraine Sithole, Zukiswa Wanner, Thebe Ikalafeng, Khaya Dlanga moderated by Sanele KaNtsginana  will discuss the art of short story writing as a literary art form and Can Themba as inspiration. Academic and literary expert about Can Themba’s work, Siphiwo Mahala, will provide a brief address preceding the panel discussion. Details about entry requirements and submission guidelines for the competition will be announced at the launch.
