KELETSO MOPAI

Keletso Mopai is a storyteller who grew up in Lenyenye, Limpopo. Her fiction, non-fiction, and poetry have appeared in Catapult, DRUM, The Johannesburg Review of Books, Times Live, Brittle Paper, Ake Review and The Kalahari Review.
In 2017 Keletso participated in the 2017 Writivism Creative Writing Program and the Goethe-Institut’s Short Story Day Africa ID Fow Writing Workshops.
In 2019 her collection of short stories, If You Keep Digging, was published by BlackBird Books. Her short story, Monkeys, was shortlisted for the 2019 Brittle Paper Award.
Other works have been shortlisted for the Africa Book Club Competition and The Writivism Short Story Prize. Her essay on social anxiety won her the Igby Prize for non-fiction in 2017.
Keletso has been described as a brave and astute writer. She says her work is a result of rage and frustration due to social ills.
Keletso has a Bachelor of Science, with majors majored in Geology and Chemistry. She plans to pursue in MFA in creative writing soon.
