Zikhona Valela is a Historian, writer, researcher and author of Now You Know How Mapetla Died: The Story of a Black Consciousness martyr. She has taught history at Rhodes University (2016) and The University of Fort Hare (2022). Her upcoming book, an addition to the Jacana Pocket Biography series, is set to be published in April 2023.
