Welcome Mandla Lishivha is a journalist who has written for the Mail & Guardian, Daily Maverick, Getaway Magazine, GQ, Thomson Reuters Foundation, the Journal for Contemporary African Studies and the City Press, where he served as arts and lifestyle editor. He has been shortlisted for the Gerald Kraak Anthology volume 2, As you like it: The Gerald Kraak Anthology, African Perspectives on Gender, Social Justice and Sexuality. He completed his undergraduate in anthropology and media at the University of the Witwatersrand and held a master’s degree in journalism and media studies from Rhodes University. Welcome is currently working as a researcher on a musical vogue opera by Philip Miller about the life and trials of Simon Nkoli.
