Silindile Veracious Shazi AKA Vero hailing from Gamalakhe Township in Port Shepstone is an applied ethnomusicologist. With her love for music and dance which started at a very young age and her BA Music, BA Hon (cum laude), and PGCE graduate qualifications, Silindile will oversee the Centre’s annual Jazz Freedom Month festival which is presented in partnership with the Centre for Jazz & Contemporary Music at UKZN, the UJ Arts & Culture Centre, and the South African Jazz Educators Association. Her key role will also be to strengthen collaborations between the Centre for Creative Arts and relevant partners to grow the Centre’s profile and its contributions to developing programmes that can engage arts practitioners to contribute to African scholarship in the arts.
