Sumboornam (Sam) Moodley matriculated at the Dundee Secondary School. he She is an educator, gender activist, cultural and community worker. She taught English and Drama at Witteklip Secondary School in Chatsworth. Her political engagements resulted in her being served with a banning order and house arrest from 1973 to 1978. Thereafter, she gave her services to the Disability Sector enriching the lives of persons with disabilities through the arts. Today she serves on the Board of Action in Autism. She has been striving for a collective women’s voice in Women in Action South Africa (WIASA). Her passion for education and research directed her to lecture at the University of KwaZulu- Natal in Social Justice Issues and at the Durban University of Technology in Cultural Diversity.
