Dr Dumisani Ephraim Khumalo is a lecturer in the African languages Department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a founder of Buya Africa Student Cultural Organization at the University of KwaZulu Natal Howard College. His research interests are Onomastics, ethnomusicology, Indigenous Knowledge systems as well as Translation and Interpreting. Dumisani Khumalo has work with different academic institutions both public and private. He developed learning, material on Emergent literacies, isiZulu First Additional language teaching as well Academic Writing. In 2022, he graduated with PhD at Wits university with the thesis titled: Ucwaningo olunzulu ngokusetshenziswa kwesathaya emculweni womasikandi nomthelela ekuphilisaneni kwabantu, an African Indigenous Knowledge Systems cross-disciplinary study of ethnomusicology, sociolinguistics and heritage studies. His research presented the first PhD thesis to be written in isiZulu in the Centenary history of university of Witwatersrand.
