Phemelo Motene is a seasoned broadcaster currently presenting on Point of View at Kaya959 weekdays. Motene has worked for major media houses like PRIMEDIA, Sabc and MultiChoice as a content producer, broadcaster and media entrepreneur.  Motene is well known for her ability to facilitate complex conversations and has been a facilitator for the likes of The Nelson Mandela Foundation, The Liliesleaf Heritage Foundation, is a resident facilitator for international organisations like AfricaBio.


Motene was the official inaugural Joburg Art host in 2019. Motene curated and hosted Thought Leaders’ Dinner at The Franschoek Book Festival, in partnership with Cartier and Perrier Jouet Champagne. She has facilitated discussions at The National Book Festival and Abantu Book Festival respectfully. In 2019 Motene was the official host of the annual Nelson Mandela Lecture. Motene recently facilitated a panel discussion by The World Health Organization (WHO) Geneva with African medical stakeholders on Africa’s response to the covid 19 pandemic.


Motene has been lauded by icons such Dr John Kani, Prof Zakes Mda, Sam Nhlengethwa, William Kentridge and Nelson Makamo for her engaging, well researched interviewing skills.


Motene’s commitment to literature has seen her build two new libraries in the past 24 months and equip school libraries with new appropriate books in SA and Lesotho. She remains a committed contributor to literary festivals in SA. Her independent reviews have recently been included in two newly published books by acclaimed novelists: Nechama Brodie and Sue Nyathi.
